The Egyptian-Themed Gypsum Nest Is Now Available in the US

Not every ant keeper wants a plain acrylic box. For those who want their setup to look like something, the Egyptian-Themed Gypsum Nest from Empire of Ants is worth a look. It combines a hand-finished sculpted design inspired by ancient Egyptian aesthetics with a fully functional nest that works well for small ant species and young or growing colonies.

Esthetic Ants USA is the official Empire of Ants reseller in the United States, which means this is now available here without international shipping.

What you get

The nest is compact: 10 x 10 x 10 cm (roughly 3.9 x 3.9 x 3.9 in), with about 5 cm of nesting space. That size works well for species like Lasius niger, Tetramorium, Myrmica, and other smaller ants, as well as any young colony that has not yet grown large enough to need a bigger setup.

One practical feature is dual-side hydration. You can add moisture from either side of the nest, which makes it easier to create a humidity gradient without having to rotate or reposition the setup. Gypsum holds moisture naturally, so regular small additions are usually enough to keep conditions right without oversaturating.

Connects to your existing setup

The nest uses a 10mm tubing connection, which is the same standard used across most Esthetic Ants and Empire of Ants products. That means you can link it to an outworld, a second nest module, or another chamber as the colony expands. You are not locked into a fixed configuration and you do not need to rehome the colony when it outgrows the initial space.

Before introducing your ants, apply Fluon to the barrier area to prevent escapes. The nest arrives fully pre-assembled with no tools or additional parts needed.

The design

The Egyptian-themed exterior is hand-finished, so each unit has slight natural variation. The sculpted exterior is mostly visual, but it does give the nest a presence on a shelf that plain acrylic setups do not have. If aesthetics matter in your setup, this is one of the few ant nests on the market that treats the outside of the product as seriously as the inside.

Good for beginners, worth it for collectors

The pre-assembled format and straightforward hydration system make this accessible for people setting up their first colony. At the same time, the visual design and compatibility with 10mm tubing give more experienced keepers a modular building block that fits into a larger setup.

The Egyptian-Themed Gypsum Nest is available now for $59.95. Free shipping on orders over $50.
