Ytong ant nests are one of the most popular choices among serious antkeepers, and for good reason. Ytong (aerated concrete) is porous, so it absorbs water and releases it slowly into the chambers. Your colony gets a stable, natural humidity gradient that feels much closer to a real underground nest than a typical plastic ant farm.

Every Esthetic Ants Ytong nest is designed and made in-house, with a dedicated hydration port, an escape-proof cover and standard 10 mm tubing connections, so it plugs straight into our outworlds and other nests. The range grows with your colony:

  • Founding Ytong Nest: for a queen with her first workers, the natural next step after a test tube.
  • Small and Medium Ytong Nest: for growing colonies of a few dozen to a few hundred workers.
  • Large and XL Ytong Nest: for established, high-population colonies.

Each size comes in two layouts. Type A has long, straight chambers and Type B has square chambers. Both work for most species, so pick the look you like best.

Ytong nests are a great fit for popular US beginner species such as Lasius niger, pavement ants and carpenter ants. For desert species like red harvester ants, simply keep one side of the nest drier.
