What Homemade Sugar Water Gets You
A DIY mix is cheap and quick: dissolve sugar in water, done. For keepers with one or two small colonies, this is often enough. The tradeoff is consistency. Get the ratio too weak and you're not giving your colony much energy. Get it too strong and it can crystallize or turn syrupy, which makes it harder for smaller workers to feed from.
Homemade mixes also lack anything beyond sugar and water. There's no vitamin content, no electrolytes, no minerals, just carbohydrates.
