The Founding Ytong Nest (Type B) is a compact formicarium designed specifically for early-stage ant colonies. As part of the first series of Esthetic Ants Ytong nests, it offers excellent moisture regulation and a natural nesting environment for founding colonies.

This nest features a cubed chamber design, providing structured nesting spaces that allow ants to cluster brood and organize efficiently. The Ytong block creates a stable and humid microclimate, ideal for species that benefit from consistent moisture levels.

Moisture is added through the side-mounted chimney, allowing controlled hydration without disturbing the colony. An escape-proof mesh is embedded into the frame, while a clear acrylic cover secured with screws provides visibility and protection. For best results, we do not recommend removing all screws during use. A red shield is included to reduce light exposure and support natural ant behavior.

This nest is designed to be used only in a horizontal, flat position.

If heating is required, we recommend placing a heat cable or heat mat on top of the Ytong block to prevent condensation inside the nest.

This nest suits a founding colony of approximately 25 to 50 workers.

Please note: Ytong is a fragile material by nature. All nests are delivered functional, but minor cosmetic imperfections may occur.

Nest is the perfect size for a 5-50 camponotus colony or a 100-2000 worker big headed ant colony but there is really no easy way to provide drinking water other than flooding the nest making four stars seem fair

Thank you for your review! A nest is generally not meant to be the ants’ main drinking water source, but rather to provide the humidity they need inside the nest. Drinking water should always be offered externally, for example with a small water feeder in the outworld.
