The Medium Ytong Nest (Type A) is a larger formicarium designed for growing ant colonies that require more nesting space while maintaining stable humidity. It builds on the same proven design as the Small Ytong Nest (Type A), with increased capacity for continued colony development.

This nest features seven straight-shaped chambers carved into a Ytong block, providing an efficient and linear layout that supports brood organization and colony expansion. The porous Ytong material naturally regulates moisture, creating a stable and humid microclimate suitable for many ant species.

Moisture is added through the side-mounted hydration chimney, allowing controlled hydration without disturbing the colony. An escape-proof mesh is embedded into the frame, while a clear acrylic cover secured with screws provides visibility and protection. A red shield is included to reduce light exposure and support natural ant behavior.

This nest is designed to be used only in a vertical position.

This nest suits growing colonies that have outgrown founding and small Ytong nests.
