The Small Wooden Ant Nest is carved from natural Java Plum wood and gives small colonies a compact, natural-looking home that fits easily into any beginner setup.

Multiple 9.5 mm entrance holes lead into chambers carved 10 mm deep directly into the wood, a layout that resembles how ants dig their own nests. Java Plum is a dense, durable hardwood that holds its shape well.

A removable polycarbonate top lets you watch your colony and makes cleaning easy. The nest comes with a red lid that keeps the chambers dark, so your ants feel safe and settle in quickly.

This is a dry nest: the wood cannot be moistened. Provide water in the outworld instead, for example with a liquid feeder.

Wooden expansion ports let you connect additional nests as the colony grows, and the ports fit standard 10 mm tubing. Stoppers and tubing are not included: close unused ports with our 10 mm Plastic Stoppers and connect your outworld with 10 mm Flexible Tubing.

Please note: because this nest is made from natural wood, the height can vary slightly from piece to piece.

Wood-chewing species: ants that work wood in nature, such as many Camponotus (carpenter ants), may gnaw at the chambers over time. If you keep these species, check the nest regularly.

Unlike many of our other ant nests, this model was not designed or made by Esthetic Ants. It comes from one of our Asian manufacturing partners. We chose it because it offers a natural-looking alternative to acrylic and 3D-printed nests, and we inspected and tested it before adding it to our range. We always want to be open about where our products come from.
